Palaces
Client: Gina Czarnecki
Crafted: Animation
Palaces is a unique art meets science project by Gina Czarnecki that aims to create a sculpture using thousands of baby teeth donated by the public. Gina required an animation to encourage the donation of more teeth, raise her public profile and raise funds for the project.
In response, we drew on a fairy-tale aesthetic, structuring the film, illustration and styling around the narrative of a tooth on its perilous journey to the ‘palace’. The project launched at the Bluecoat (in Liverpool) and is touring both galleries and museums as it crosses the boundaries between art and science. The Palaces project has appeared on BBC News and CBBC Newsround and also featured in New Scientist.
